6. Confidence to perform and express in private and public - satisfaction of achievement in pieces played properly and ability to play new music by sightreading.
7. Teamwork when playing in ensemble-emotional intelligence in today's lingo.

So DO keep piano lessons alive people - they teach kids experiences, skills, emotions, freedom - beyond the ordinary, in unexpected situations and discipline to reach for higher standards of achievement through enjoyment - more than most parents have experienced in life situations.

It is proven from studies that music making lifts the motivation, adds to memory capacity, and benefits the total being to old age. it is WHOLESOME, no?

As the knowledge of stress has changed over time, so just looking back on parents' experiences (though it may be good catharsis for parents to share of the past struggles and victories) may not be sufficient to prepare kids to meet the future - e.g. in this super duper hi-tech world.
